sweet trip album design

here is an album cover design to celebrate 20 years of the album, velocity: design: comfort by sweet trip. this album design aims to convey themes of technology vs nature using chaotic texture heavy visuals.

the album was conceptually influenced by advertising and general consumerism, which is reflected in the album title, velocity: design: comfort. this name was envisioned as a hypothetical slogan for a luxury car.

the design uses a bombardment of fragmented products, and technological junk to try and mirror that unique feeling associated with modern consumerism: that feeling of overstimulation as you consume the tack off teleshopping or open an argos catalogue (and your brain fking explodes). the animation works in a similar vein, drawing from the hypnotically sickening aesthetic of television commercials. like a factory product the design is littered with carless, machine readable typography, with little care of aesthetics or hierarchy.

the inside spreads of the lyric booklet blend nature and technology by combining the organic insect photography with technical drawings of vehicle electronics. this creates the illusion that the insect is becoming physically corrupted  by technology.
